Rosarito, Baja California - 122nd anniversary


Dear Friends:

We want to inform the foreign community that the City of Rosarito will be celebrating its 122nd anniversary on the 11th & 12th of May. Through the local press, the City of Rosarito and FRAO is inviting schools, clubs and organizations - HOA’s included - to participate in the celebration.



The event is programmed as follows:

* On Friday the 11th, you are all invited to attend the Civic Act Ceremony at 10 am at the parking lot of City Hall, followed by food, beverages and entertaining. In the evening, the coronation of Miss Rosarito during a popular dance will be held in the parking lot.

* On Saturday, scheduled at noon a street parade will run from the Rosarito Beach Hotel to City Hall. The City is inviting schools, clubs and organizations - HOA’s included - to participate with music bands, walking performances, or to just ride in decorated floats or cars such as pick-up trucks or convertibles with ornamentation allusive to the indigenous, missional, agricultural and communal land (Ejido) stages of Rosarito. A prize of 10,000 pesos will go to the best float. Again, food and entertainment at the parking lot.

For participation in the parade, please register at city hall at Accion Civica Department, telephone (661) 614-9626 and attend a general meeting at city hall on May 7th .



Also, as part of this celebration, artists are invited to participate in an art contest. Paintings in oil, acrylic or watercolor with a theme allusive to the eight different stages of the foundation of the city will vie for prizes from $1,500 to $10,500 pesos. Works must be submitted to Public Relations department and these will be displayed during the celebration.
